fiiine art

I’ve never been one to take fine art too seriously. However, I attended FOG Design + Art Fair last night at Fort Mason for the first time from an invite from Christopher and his friend from home. Sure, I enjoy a couple points and giggles at things that look like a kindergartener did it, but I can’t imagine that not being the artist’s point, right? We feel a connection, a nostalgia, a recognition in any painting we choose to make an opinion about, whether or not it fits our current budget or home aesthetic.

The evening has inspired me to try to visit art galleries more. I actually think I enjoy them more than museums simply because the art pieces leave the walls and go into making someone’s home that much more unique and special. I am not exactly in the right tax bracket to do that myself quite yet, but window shopping is fun. I loved all the earth tones and sketch pieces and I am genuinely looking forward to the day I’ll leave with one.

Sonya Rapoport, Casemore Gallery. The colored pencil and computer paper reminds me of blueprints and I love the idea of decorating walls with meaningful ones.
